The Marble Institute of America has announced the Midwest Stone Fabricators Association (MWSFA) will become the MIA Midwest Chapter. The goal of the chapter will be to increase educational offerings and networking opportunities to stone professionals in the region (Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin).

The events included the Minnesota Stone Summit for Fabricators and the MIA Midwest Chapter Kickoff event: the State of the Natural Stone Industry. The day started off with the Minnesota Stone Summit, another edition of the MIA/ Stone World regional education program.

I was elected to the MIA Board of Directors in November of 2009, representing Zone 4 (Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin). There has been some attention given to activities both up and down the value chain.
